Right Worshipful Brother David H. Selby Installed as Provincial Grand Master of Down

Craigantlet Masonic Lodge of Friendship No. 486 extends its warmest congratulations to Right Worshipful Brother David H. Selby following his installation as Provincial Grand Master of Down.

On Friday 26 June 2026, Brethren from throughout the Province gathered at La Mon Hotel & Country Club to witness the Installation Ceremony, where R.W. Bro. Selby succeeded Right Worshipful Brother Brian W. Gardner as Provincial Grand Master. The ceremony was conducted by the Most Worshipful Grand Master of Ireland, Most Worshipful Brother Richard S. G. Ensor, and attended by senior officers of the Grand Lodge of Ireland together with representatives from Provinces across the Island of Ireland, making it a memorable and significant occasion for the Province of Down.

Following his installation, R.W. Bro. Selby invested Very Worshipful Brother Mark Wilson as Deputy Provincial Grand Master and Worshipful Brother Hugh McKeag as Provincial Grand Secretary, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the leadership of the Province.

R.W. Bro. Selby was initiated into Charity Masonic Lodge No. 688 in 1989 and has dedicated more than three decades of distinguished service to Freemasonry. During that time he has served as Worshipful Master, Provincial Grand Secretary, Provincial Assistant Grand Master and, most recently, Provincial Deputy Grand Master. He has also held several appointments within the Grand Lodge of Ireland and is widely respected for his knowledge of Masonic ritual, his leadership and his unwavering commitment to the Craft.

Craigantlet Lodge was proudly represented at both the Installation Ceremony and the celebratory dinner that followed. Many of our Brethren were accompanied by their wives and partners, making the evening a wonderful social occasion.

Guests enjoyed an excellent meal, first-class entertainment from a live band and, above all, the opportunity to catch up with old friends, make new acquaintances and enjoy the friendship and fellowship that are at the heart of Freemasonry. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable evening for all who attended.

As a Lodge, we congratulate Right Worshipful Brother David H. Selby on his installation and wish him every success, good health and happiness as Provincial Grand Master. Gardner for his dedicated leadership and distinguished service to the Province during his tenure, and wish him well for the future.
