It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Most Worshipful Brother Rodney L. McCurley, Grand Master of Ireland, after a brief illness. Rodney passed away peacefully on the evening of 17 February 2025, and we extend our sincere sympathy and condolences to his wife, Mary, and his extended family.
M.W. Bro. McCurley was a devoted and inspirational leader of Irish Freemasonry. His tenure as Grand Master was marked by his unwavering dedication to the Craft, his steadfast leadership, and his commitment to upholding the principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth. Throughout his distinguished Masonic journey, he worked tirelessly to strengthen the bonds of our fraternity, both in Ireland and internationally, ensuring that our traditions and values remained at the heart of all we do.
He was a great friend to Craigantlet Masonic Lodge of Friendship No. 486, attending on numerous occasions throughout his time in office, particularly to acknowledge and present 50-year jewels to long-serving brethren. Most recently, in September 2024, he honoured us with his presence to make such a presentation, demonstrating his deep respect and appreciation for the dedication of our members.
Our Worshipful Master, Officers and Brethren, pay tribute to M.W. Bro. McCurley’s legacy of leadership and service. His wisdom, kindness, and dedication to Freemasonry will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
